The Sensex is now trading 81 points higher at 9729.
The Nifty is now trading at 2983, up 24 points.
Sterlite has advanced further, and it is now up 4.4% to Rs 272. Hindalco and Tata Steel have also gained nearly 3.3% each to Rs 53.35 and Rs 224 respectively. Satyam has gained 2.5%. Jaiprakash, ICICI Bank and Tata Motors are the other gainers.
Ranbaxy has lost 1.55% to Rs 248.50, Maruti has declined 0.7% to Rs 516.50 and NTPC is down 0.14% to Rs 181.
