Markets marginally in green

Markets have recovered on strong advance tax numbers.

The Sensex is up 11  points at 17,178. The Nifty is flat at 5,136.

Buying in IT and FMCG stocks have helped the markets to recover. The indices have added around 1% each to 5,379 and 2,821, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has gained 3% at Rs 226. Wipro has added 2.3% to Rs 726. TCS has advanced 2% to Rs 812.

Reliance Communications and Tata Motors have jumped 1.5% each. Tata Steel, Hindalco and Jaiprakash Associates are the other gainers in the Sensex today.

Meanwhile, Reliance Infrastructure has shed 2.5% at Rs 973. Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 2% to Rs 1,112.

 

ACC, Sun Pharma, ONGC and Maruti are down over 1% each. DLF is down 1% at Rs 307.

Banking stocks are still in red. HDFC, ICICI Bank and SBI have declined 1% each to Rs 2,688, Rs 928 and Rs 2,026, respectively.

The BSE market breadth is negative. Out of 2,782 stocks traded, 1,680 have declined while 1,013 have advanced.
