Markets near day's high

The Sensex has touched a high of 17,109.47 owing to buying in the realty and the auto stocks. The Sensex is now at 17,086, up 158 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 5,088, up 55 points.

The BSE realty index has soared around 5% and the auto index is up 2%, respectively.

Sun Pharma is the top gainers,up 5% at Rs 1,528. DLF has soared 4.5% to Rs 368. Tata Motors has advanced 3.5% to Rs 685. Sterlite, Reliance Industries, Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra are up over 2% each at Rs 881, Rs 1,069, 141 and Rs 1,051, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has shed 2% to Rs 280. BHEL and Infosys are the other prominent losers on the BSE, down over 0.5% each.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,672 shares traded, 1,899 have advanced and 693 have declined so far on the BSE.
