Markets off day's high

The markets have pared some of their gains in the last half-hour or so. The Sensex after touching a high of 16,293, is currently at 16,214, up 191 points. The Nifty is up 54 points at 4,861.

The Sensex conitnues to exhibit strong movement and is now at 16,240, up 212 points. The NSE Nifty is 63 points higher at 4,870.

Metal scrips like Sterlite Industries and Hindalco Industries have soared 3% each to Rs 625, Rs 141 and Rs 119, respectively.

The other major gainers on the Sensex are DLF, TCS, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Infosys and Wipro, up over 1.5% each.

On the losing side there is ACC and Hindustan Unilever, down over 0.5% each.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,657 shares traded, 1,786 have advanced and 788 have declined so far on the BSE.

All the sectoral indices are in green, realty, metal and IT indices are up 2% each.

Sesa Goa, SAIL and Sterlite Industries, up 3.5% each at Rs 320, Rs 192 and Rs 626, respectively on the metal index.

TCS has added 3% at Rs 718 and Patni Computers is up 2%, respectively on the BSE IT index.
