Markets off day's high

Markets have fallen from the day's high as Reliance pared some of its early gains.

The Sensex touched a high of 18,167 on firm cues from Asian peers. The index pared some gains and is now up 84 points at 18,069.

The Nifty is up 24 points at 5,425.

HDFC has gained 2% at Rs 3,126 - hitting its 52-week high ahead of quartrly results due later today. HDFC Bank is at its highest at Rs 2,107 - up 2%.

DLF has jumped 2.6% to Rs 324. Reliance Infrastructure has added 1% to Rs 1,159.

Banking stocks are up. SBI has gained 1.5% at Rs 2,465. ICICI Bank is up marginally at Rs 902.

Hindalco, Hero Honda, Bharti Airtel and Tata Steel have advanced around 1% each.

Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped 0.5% to Rs 628. Maruti is flat at Rs 1,407.

Infosys continues to trade soft after yesterday's fall. The stock is now down 0.5% at Rs 2,782.
