Markets off day's high

Markets corrected marginally in the past one hour of trade, the Sensex was up 100 points at 19,107 and the Nifty was at 5729 up 32 points.

Earlier in the day, the BSE index had touched a high of 19,194.

State Bank of India continued to remain the top gainer on the Sensex stocks followed by BHEL, Tata Steel, ONGC, HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and NTPC. On the other hand Wipro, Reliance Communication, Reliance Industries, Cipla, Tata Power, Bharti Airtel and Hindalco Industries were among the top losers.

On the sectoral front BSE banking index- Bankex was the top sectoral gainer followed by Consumer Durable the indices were up 1.9% and 1.5% respectively. PSU, Capital Goods, Metal, Power and Auto indices were also among the sectoral gainers. IT, Realty, Teck and Healthcare indices were also trading in the green. Oil & Gas and FMCG indices were in the negative zone.

Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, State bank of India, Indusind Bank and Bank of India were top gainers among the banking stocks. While index heavyweight Reliance Industries, Petronet LNG and Cairn India were among losers on the oil & gas stocks.

The broader markets also slipped from the high levels, the BSE mid-cap index was up 46 points at 7238 and the small-cap index was at 9002 up 56 points.
