Markets off day's low

The markets have continued to trade in the negative and has slipped to touch an intra day low of 20,226. The European markets opening in the red didn't help either. The Sensex is down 69 points at 20,255 and the Nifty has shed 21 points at 6,084.

In the broader markets, the smllcap index has managed to stay in the positive gaining 0.3% while the midcap space has seen some profit booking and is down 0.2%

On the BSE sectoral indices, IT and Realty has managed has manged to push into the greener space along with Consumer Durables up 1.5%, Auto and FMCG adding 0.5% and 0.4% respectively.

Maruti Suzuki up nearly 3% is the top gainer on the Sensex followed by ITC gaining 1%, Jaiprakash Associates, Cipla and DLF adding 0.8% each.

 

Hindalco,Sterlite  down nearly 2%, Tata Steel, SBI, Bharti Airtel, Hindustan Unilever, ONGC down 1% each are the other noteable losers.


The market breadth has turned negative. 1494 stocks have declined while 1404 have advanced.
