The markets opened in the green with the Sensex gaining 60 points at 18,754 and the Nifty added 18 points at 5,618. The broader markets too gained in the opening trades with the midcap index up 0.4% and the smallcap index moved up by 0.3%. Currently, the BSE benchmark index is up 105 points at 18,600 and the Nifty gained 31 points at 5,631.
Among the sectoral indices, Realty index gained nearly 0.9% followed by yesterday's top gainer FMCG, Consumer durables and Auto index adding 0.6-0.7%. However, Power and PSU index saw a marginal gain of 0.1%.Of the 10 companies in the realty index, nine scrips advanced. The movers here are Ackruti City up 11% followed by HDIL, Indiabulls Real Estate, Anant Raj Industries, D B Realty and DLF gaining 1% each.
In the international market, Wall Street closed its best three-day run in the past three months yesterday after the Greek parliament approved austerity measures to avoid defaulting on its debt.The Dow Jones industrial average gained 0.6% to 12,261. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 0.8% to 1,307. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 0.4% to 2,740.
The Asian markets to rallied on positive news from Europe. Shanghai Composite,Hang Seng, Jakarta Composite and Straits Times gained 1% each.
Back home, the top gainers among the Sensex stocks in the opening trades are ITC, DLF, Tata Power, Hindustan Unilever, Reliance Infrastructure and Bajaj Auto up 1% each.
Meanwhile, NTPC down 0.7% and ONGC losing 0.4% are the only losers on the Sensex.
The market breath is positive. Of the total 1086 stocks traded on the BSE, 772 stocks have advanced while 262 have declined.
