Markets open in green

The markets have opened in the green with the Sensex gaining 40 points at 19,732 while the Nifty added 14 points at 5,921. Continuing yesterday's trend, the broader markets have opened strong. The midcap index has gained 0.8% to start at 7,537 while the smallcap index started trading at 9,134, up 0.6%

Among the BSE sectoral indices, Oil & Gas leads the pack at 0.8% up closely followed by Metal, Capital Goods and PSU trading at 0.7%. However, IT has started in the negative, down 0.4%. Realty and Auto indices too had a negatice start.

The gainers on the Sensex in the early trades are Sterlite, Reliance Communicatins up 1% each followed by Tata Steel, BHEL, Cipla, Reliance Industries added 0.4% - 0.0.6%

Hero Honda Motor down 2% is the top loser on the sensex. Mahindra & Mahindra, JP Associates losing 1% each, Bajaj Auto, Jindal Steel, DLF, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Wipro and ICICI Bank shedding 0.6% - 0.8%

 

The market breadth is very positive. Of the total 1671 stocks traded on the BSE, 1102 stocks have advanced while 517 declined.
