The markets have opened in the green with the Sensex adding 89 points at 19,977 and the Nifty gained 24 points at 5,971. In the broader markets, the smallcap index has opened up 0.4% at 9,221 while the midcap started in the negative at 7,558, losing 0.1%.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal, Realty, Health Care, Bankex, Capital Goods up 0.2% each lead the sectoral chart in the opening trades. However, Consumer Durables has opened in the negative, down 0.5%.
Bajaj Auto up 2%, ICICI Bank, Cipla, Sterlite, DLF and HDFC gaining 1% each are the top gainers on the Sensex in the opening trades.
Hero Honda down 2%, Infosys, Reliance Communications, TCS and ONGC shedding 0.2% - 0.7% are the losers on the Sensex.
The market breadth is positive. 968 shares have advanced while 287 have declined on the BSE.
