Markets open on a buoyant note

The Indian bourses have opened on good note following strong global cues. The Sensex after touching a high of 17,975 has come down partially and is now at 17,934, up 112 points. The NSE Nifty is 36 points higher at 5,358.

Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Sterlite and Hero Honda are the top gainers on the Sensex, up 1.5% each on the BSE.

Hindalco, Tata Motors, Reliance Infrastrcuture, ICICI Bank and HDFC are the prominent gainers on the Sensex, up over 1% each.

Infosys is on the other hand the only marginal loser on the Sensex, down 0.3%. The stock has slipped today after it gained 4% towards the end of the trading session on Tuesday following its Q3 results.

The US markets have ended in the green on Wednesday. The Dow closed at 11,123, stronger by 103 points or 0.9%, Nasdaq ended at 2504, higher by 38 points or 1.5%.

The Asian markets have also started on a firm note. The Hang Seng is quoting at 22,281, stronger by 159 points or 0.7% and Nikkei is at 11,283, higher by 78 points or 0.7%.
