The markets have slipped into the red with the Nifty shedding 41 points at 5,815 and the Sensex is down 134 points at 19,373.

After a negative opening , the markets have moved higher with the sensex gaining 60 points at 19,568. The Nifty gained 17 points at 5,875. In the broader markets, the smallcap index is stable at 2% while the midcaps pared some of its initial gains at 1.8%
Among the BSE sectoral indices, Metal, Realty, Consumer Durables up 1% each are the top gainers. However, IT index has slipped into the red.
The gainers on the Sensex are Reliance Infrastructure up 3%, Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates and Hindalco gaining 2% each.
The losers are ITC, TCS, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel down 1% each. Hero Honda, Infosys and Wipro shedding 0.8% each are the other noteable losers.
The market bredath is very positive. Of the total 2591 stocks traded on the BSE, 1993 stocks have advanced while 526 have declined.
