The Sensex is quoting at 19,863, higher by 278 points and the Nifty is at 5980, up 90 points in noon trades.

The markets are having a steady session of trade. The BSE Sensex is at 19739, albeit off its intra-day high of 19812, up 153 points and the Nifty is at 5942, up 59 points. The midcap index is at 8100, higher by 22 points and the smallcap index is at 10298, up 61 points.
Meanwhile, Nikkei and Taiwan indices have added nearly a percent each, while the European markets are trading mixed in early trades.
The IT sector has been hogging the limelight since this morning. Wipro has jumped by 2.7% at Rs 412 and Infosys has added 1.7% at Rs 3017. And the banking space is also seeing action. HDFC Bank has gained 1.5% at Rs 2340 and ICICI Bank has added 0.7% at Rs 1156.

On the losers' side, Sterlite has weakened by 1.7% at Rs 172, M&M has shed 1.1% at Rs 744 and NTPC has lost 0.9% at Rs 182.
The market breadth is positive. Out of 2928 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1651 advancing stocks as against 1197 declines.
