Markets range bound

After an intial high of 20,267, the markets are trading range bound. The Sensex is at 20,183, up 138 points and the Nifty has gained 39 points and is at 6057. The midcap index is in line with the benchmrk index at 0.6% while the smallcap index is stable at 0.8%

In the smallcap index, 427 scrips have advanced while 92 scrips have declined. The gainers in this space are Navin Fluorine Internationalup 11%, PNB Gilts adding 9%,Gokul Refoils gaining 8% and Force Motors up 6.5%. On the other hand, 220 scrips have moved up and 45 scrips have gone down in the midcap index.Man Infrastructure, Jindal South, Balrampur Chini and Tube Investments gaining 4% are the movers here.

On the BSE sectoral indices all the indices are in the green.Metal index up 1.5% leads the chart followed by Consumer Durables, Oil & Gas
and Realty. IT, Teck and FMCG continue to remain at the bottom. The gainers in the metal space are Hindalco up nearly 3%, Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel and Sterlite gaining nearly 2%. The draggers in the Teck area are HT Media down 1.55, Onmobile Global and Idea Cellular shedding 0.8% each.

 

The losers on the Sensex are HDFC Bank down 0.5%, Bharti Airtel, HDFC and Hindustan Unilever losing 0.2% form the list.

Apart from the metal scrips, the gainers are SBI, Tata Motors, Jaiprakash Associates and ONGC up 1.5% each.Mahindra & Mahindra,
Jindal Steel, Cipla and ACC adding 1% each are the other significant gainers.

The market breadth is positive. Of the total 2698 stocks traded, 1987 stocks have advanced while 628 have declined.
