Markets rebound; auto index leads

The markets had recovred its losses in the noon deals, the Sensex was up 2 points at 19,867 and the Nifty was unchanged at 5948.

Hero Honda remained the top gainer among the Sensex stocks, the stock traded at Rs 1880 up nearly 12%, Cipla, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel and Infosys were also among the gainers on the sensex. On the other hand Bharti Airtel, ONGC, Reliance Infrastructure, State Bank of India and Maruti Suzuki were the top losers down more than 1.32% each.

The BSE auto index continued to lead the sectoral pack, the index was up 1.25% or 123 points at 10,014, Consumer Durables, IT, Metal and Teck indices also traded in the positive territiroy. BSE Banking index- Bankex was the top loser down 119 points at 12,839. The BSE Healthcare index was also trading in the negative zone down 37 points at 6521, PSU, Power and Realty indices were down more than 0.35% each.

Hero Honda, Amtek Auto, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Auto were the top gainers on the Auto index, while Union Bank was the top loser among the banking stocks down 2.25% at Rs 321, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, State Bank of India and HDFC Bank were also in the red down more than 1.2% each.

The broader markets traded flat with BSE mid-cap index adding 19 ponts at 7587 and the small-cap index adding 65 points at 9249
