The markets have jumped after opening on a subdued note. The Sensex touched a high of 17,176 - up 123 points. The index is now up 103 points at 17,155.
The Nifty is up 32 points at 5,133.
Tata Motors have extended gains and is now up 2.6% at Rs 791. Sensex heavyweight, Reliance, has jumped 1.7% to Rs 1,007.
ACC and Hero Honda have added 1.5% each to Rs 1,003 and Rs 1,903, respectively.
The other gainers include Hindalco, Jaiprakash Associates, HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure.
However, HDFC Bank is trading soft. The stock is down 0.7% at Rs 1,798.
The BSE market breadth is positive. Out of 2,271 stocks traded, 1,441 have advanced while 756 have declined.
