Markets recover in noon trades

Markets have recovered and is trading in the positive now. The Sensex is up 11  points at 17,178. The Nifty is flat at 5,136.

Global markets continue to affect Indian markets. The Sensex opened today on a subdued note and dropped further to a low of 17,061. The index is now down 65 points at 17,101.

The Nifty is down 24 points at 5,113.

The BSE capital goods index has dropped 1.3% at 13,607. The bankex, realty and PSU indices have also slipped. However, FMCG index is up 1% at 2,818.

Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 2.6% to Rs 972. ICICI Bank has dropped 2% to Rs 919.

 

Auto stocks are down. Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki have slipped 1.8% each to Rs 1,116 and Rs 981, respectively.

ACC is down 1.7% at Rs 981. Sun Pharma, SBI, ONGC and DLF have dropped around 1.5% each.

The other losers in the index are HDFC, Larsen & Toubro and Sterlite.

However, FMCG major, Hindustan Unilever has gained 3% at Rs 226. Wipro has added 1.6% to Rs 721. TCS is up 1% at Rs 806.

Reliance Communications, Tata Steel and Hindalco have also moved in green.

The BSE market breadth is fairly negative. Out of 2,663 stocks traded, 1,688 have declined while 879 have advanced.
