Markets remain lacklustre

The markets continue to trade within a mere 50 points range. The Sensex is up 37 points at 18,243 and the Nifty has gained 12 points at 5483. the smallcap and the midcap index continue to remain stable. Benchmark index up 0.2% lags as compared to the broader markets.

On the BSE sectoral indices, Consumer Durables stay rooted at 1.5% while FMCG has gained and is up 0.8%. Bankex too has inched ahead. However, Oil & Gas, PSU has slipped into the red to accompany Teck and IT.

Jaiprakash Associates leads the Sensex gainers charts up 4% followed by Sterlite at 3%, Tata Power, HDFC Bank, HDFC and Tata Steel gaining 1% each.

Hero Honda down 3% is the top loser followed by TCS , Infosys and BHEL shedding 1% each.

The market breadth is marginally positive. 1884 stocks have advanced while 1042 have declined.
