The benchmark indices have been trading just below the dotted line in the past one hour. After rebounding from sub-17300 levels, the Sensex has been hovering around the same mark and is now down 22 points at 17,315 and the Nifty is down three points at 5193.
The leading gainers on the Sensex are Sterlite (stronger by 2.9% at Rs 672), RCom (higher by 2.7% at Rs 184) and Reliance Infra (up 1.1% at Rs 1173). And PSU index has gained by more than 2% to emerge as the top sectoral gainer on the BSE, with divestment back in the news. With the government approving the 10% disinvestment in Hindustan Copper and Coal India, Hindustan Copper has surged 11% to Rs 525. Among other major PSU stocks, MMTC has soared 21% at Rs 34668, STC has spurted by 7% at Rs 448 and NMDC has appreciated by 3% at Rs 265.
On the other hand, TCS has slipped 1.4% to Rs 769, ICICI Bank has shed 1.1% at Rs 844 and Cipla has lost 1% at Rs 336. And index heavyweight RIL has edged lower by 0.7% at Rs 1055.
The market breadth is positive. Out of 2664 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1455 advancing stocks as against 1099 declines.
