Markets sideways in mid-morning trades

The Indian markets have remained flat in the past one hour. The Sensex is quoting at 17,467, lower by 22 points and the Nifty is at 5,228, down two points. The mid-cap and small-cap indices are also trading flat at 6750 and 8478 respectively.

The auto sector has shed almost one per cent to be the top sectoral gainer on the BSE. M&M has declined 1.1% to Rs 1100 and Maruti has shed 1.4% at Rs 1414. Sterlite, Wipro and NTPC are the other major losers.

Among the gainers, Jaiprakash Associates has strengthened by 1.7% to Rs 151, DLF has added 1.5% at Rs 318 and Infosys is up 1% at Rs 2767.

 

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2551 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1311 advancing stocks as against 1141 declines.
