Markets slip further, Sensex down 112pts

The major indices continue to languish in red. The Sensex is at 15,267, down 112 points. The NSE Nifty, meanwhile, is at 4,538 - down 31 points.

The BSE oil & gas index has dropped 3.5% to 9,243.

The breadth continues to be positive. Out of 2,613 stocks trded 1,506 have advanced while 1,001 have declined.

SensexMarkets have extended losses. The BSE Sensex dropped to a low of 15,228 - down 235 points from the day's high. The index is now down 113 points at 15,266.

Reliance has slumped 5% to Rs 1,916. Hero Honda and ONGC have dropped 3.5% each to Rs 1,680 and Rs 1,087, respectively. Tata Motors has shed 2.5% Rs 365.

 

Hindalco, HDFC, Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra & Mahindra have also declined.

On the other hand, DLF and Tata Power have surged 4.5% each to Rs 412 and Rs 1,226, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has added 4% to Rs 295. Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel have moved up 2% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive. out of 2,572 stocks traded 1,474 have advanced while 1,005 have declined.

Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty is down 33 points at 4,535.

Among the other NIfty 50 stocks, Gail India and Idea Cellular have dropped 2.5% each to Rs 344 and Rs 80, respectively.
