The Sensex has dropped sharply into red to a low of 16,661. The index is now flat at 16,682.
The Nifty is flat at 4,958.

The Sensex has started slipping and is now up 62 points at 16,741.
The Nifty is below the 5,000 mark at 4,973 - up 15 points.
ACC has continued to lead the pack of Sensex gainers and is now up 3.6% at Rs 828. Bharti Airtel has gained 3.5% at Rs 434.
Tata Power has added 2.3% to Rs 1,336. Jaiprakash Associates and Hindalco have advanced 2% each to Rs 245 and Rs 134, respectively.
Reliance Communications, SBI, Grasim, Wipro, BHEL, Hindustan Unilever, ONGC and HDFC Bank have moved up 1-2% each.
Meanwhile, Reliance has dropped 2.5% to Rs 2,129. Hero Honda has slipped 1% to Rs 1,658.
The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,674 shares traded 1,381 have advanced while 1,206 have declined.
