Markets slip into the red

After a strong opening the markets have slipped into the red. The Sensex is down 61 points at 19,940 and Nifty is lower by 22 points at 5986.

The Small-cap index is at 10,186 up 0.10% and the Mid-cap index is trading lower by two points at 8076. Sirgun Holdings is the top loser among the Mid-caps down nearly 5% at Rs 11.85.

Resugere Mines and Minerals, Gitanjali Gems and Shristi Infrastructure Development Corporation are the significant losers among the Small-caps.

Among the key sectoral indices IT, Tech, Capital Goods, Realty, Bankex and Oil & Gas are in the negative zone.

However, Metal, Consumer Durables and Auto indices are trading higher.

Among the Sensex stocks Larsen and Toubro, Infosys, TCS and Hero Honda are down more than 1% each.

The market breadth is negative as 1575 stocks are declining and 1132 stocks are advancing.
