Markets steady; ONGC, Tata Steel surge 5%

The NSE Nifty is up 30 points at 4,079.

ONGC and Tata Steel have soared nearly 5% each to Rs 890 and Rs 698, respectively.

SBI has rallied 3.7% to Rs 1,268. NTPC, Ambuja Cements and
Tata Motors have surged 3% each to Rs 167, Rs 83 and Rs 411, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and Larsen & Toubro have moved up 2.5% each to Rs 822 and Rs 2,415, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 2% to Rs 219. Maruti and Relaince have added 1.5% each to Rs 572 and Rs 2,045, respectively.

Cipla has gained 1.3% at Rs 214.

Ranbaxy has slumped over 8% to Rs 488.

 

Infosys and Satyam have plunged over 5% each to Rs 1,590 and Rs 420, respectively. TCS has slipped over 2% to Rs 782, and Wipro has shed 1.7% to Rs 405.

HDFC and BHEL have dropped around 3% each at Rs 1,940 and Rs 1,478, respectively.

HDFC Bank has shed 2.5% at Rs 1,040. Hindalco has declined 1.3% to Rs 153.

Out of 2,424 stocks traded so far, 1,347 have declined, 1,012 have advanced and 65 are unchanged.
