Markets still in red

A breif recovery some time back saw the Sensex touch a high of 16,649. The index is now down 115 points at 16,605.

The NSE Nifty is down 34 points at 4,936.

Hindalco and Infosys have shed nearly 4% each at Rs 129 and Rs 2,277, respectively.

Tata Steel, DLF and Sterlite have dropped over 2% each to Rs 509, Rs 414 and Rs 752, respectively.

Hero Honda, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti are down nearly 2% each.

Bharti Airtel, HDFC and NTPC have advanced 2% each to Rs 422, Rs 2,705 and Rs 212, respectively.

HDFC Bank has gained 1.5% at Rs 1,593, and Hindustan Unilever is up 1% at Rs 261.

 

The market breadth continues to remain negative - out of 2,629 stocks traded, 1,442 have declined and 1,105 have advanced.
