The markets have sustained their early-morning gains. Having regained the 17-k mark in opening trades, the Sensex is now quoting higher by 106 points at 17077 and the Nifty is up 33 ponts at 5113. The mid-cap and small-cap indices have also added more than a per cent each. Realty and capital goods are aiding the upward momentum in this morning trades.
Global cues have been favourable. The US markets had posted modest gains overninght, with the Dow adding 47 points and Nasdaq closing higher by 11 points. The Asian markets are also trading firm, with the Hang Seng stronger by 175 points and Nikkei adding 209 points in early trades.
Among the gainers, Bharti Airtel has appreciated by 3.2% at Rs 302, DLF has strengthened by 2% at Rs 310 and ACC has added 1.8% at Rs 983. Index heavyweight Reliance Industries has inched up by 0.2% at Rs 1016.
In the realty space, Ackruti City has strengthened by 2.1% at RS 512, DLF has added 1.95 at Rs 310 and HDIL is up 1.6% at Rs 320.
And in the capital goods space, Areva is up 3.3% at Rs 283, ABB is up 1.9% at Rs 810 and L&T is up 1.2% at Rs 1605.
On the losers side, ITC and Sun Pharma are marginally down at Rs 245 and Rs 1579 respectively.
The market breadth is positive. Out of 2293 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1698 advancing stocks as against 535 declines.
