The markets have shown no signs of tiring out in this trading session; if anything, they only got better. The indices actually touched new intra-day highs and reclaimed the landmark summits of 18k and 5400 in the course of the day, albeit momentarily, and have just retraced a wee bit from those levels. The BSE Sensex is now quoting at 17966, higher by 89 points, and the Nifty is at 5392, up 24 points.

Tata Steel has emerged as the leader among the NSE pack. The metal heavyweight is quoting at Rs 525, stronger by 3.1%. Sterlite has gained 3% at Rs 171 and M&M has added 3% at Rs 620. Sail, Jindal Steel and Hindalco are the other significant gainers among the heavyweights.

Not to be outdone, the Junior Nifty is also seing a lot of action. Crompton Greaves has zoomed by 4.2% at Rs 277, JSW Steel has strengthened by 4.2% at Rs 1170 and Corporation has added 2.8% at Rs 570.

On the other hand, Kotak Bank has weakened by 2% at Rs 766, Axis Bank has shed 1.6% at Rs 1347 and ABB has lost 1% at Rs 849.
