The Sensex is quoting at 16,827, down 59 points, and the Nifty is at 5,003, down 18 points.
Jaiprakash Associates has tumbled 5.16% to Rs 238, Bharti Airtel has declined 2.38% to Rs 418 and Tata Power has dropped 1.67% to Rs 1,293.90.
Sterlite has added 2.49% to Rs 779, HDFC is up 1.39% to Rs 1,569 and Tata Steel has gained 0.67% to Rs 525.
The market breadth is negative. Out of 2540 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1448 declining stocks as against 1020 advancing stocks, and 72 stocks have remained unchanged.
