The Sensex continues to trade in a range as there are no triggers to propell the markets either ways. The Europran markets opening flat didn't help either. FTSE and DAX are flat at 0.03% and CAC opened up 0.2%. The Nifty is has gained 46 points at 5,806 and the Sensex has added 175 points at 19,379. The broader market space is quite static. The benchmark index at 0.9% continues to outperform.
Among the sectoral indices, Realty is the only index in the red. Auto up 1.8%, Consumer Durables at 1.5% and IT and Tech at 1.2% each are
at the top on the sectoral indices chart. Earlier losers, Power and Metal has gained and is at 0.3% while Oil & Gas and Health Care too has inched higher at 0.2%.
The major gainer on the Sensex for the day is Tata Motors up 3.4% closely followed by JP Associates, Sterlite at 3.1%, Bharti Airtel, HDFC Bank adding 2.8%, Wipro, Maruti Suzuki, DLF and Mahindra & Mahindra gaining nearly 2%.
The losers on the Sensex are ACC down nearly 2%, Hindalco losing 1.5%, Jindal Steel, Tata Power, Reliance Communications and State Bank of India shedding 0.02%- 0.04%
