Markets trading flat; broader markets outperform

After a decent opening, the markets took the downward route to touch an intra-day low of 19,621 only to emerge in the positive zone. However, the markets failed to hold it s gains and is currently trading flat at 19,692 and the Nifty is hovering around the 5,900 levels.

In the broader markets, the indices have extended gains and is trading up 0.9% each.In comparison the BSE benchmark index is underperforming, gaining 0.1%.

Consumer Durables is the top gainer on the BSE sectoral chart.Metal, PSU and Capitla Goods are the other gainers on the chart. However, Realty index slipped in the red to accomapany IT, Bankex and Auto indices.

 

Sterlite up 2% continues to be the top gainer on the Sensex followed by Cipla, Tata Steel, Tata Motors and L&T gaining 1% each. Hindalco, SBI, RIL, ONGC and Reliance Communications addding 0.5% -0.8% are the other noteable gainers.

The losers on the benchmark index are Hero Honda down 3%, Jindal Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra and  HDFC Bank shedding 1% each.

The market breadth is positive.1580 stocks have advanced while 733 have declined.
