Markets turn soft

The markets have edged marginally lower in mid-morning trades after opening flat and trading in a lacklustre fashion in the initial part of trade. The Sensex is now quoting at 17919, lower by 37 points and the Nifty is at 5386, down 11 points.

There is not much happening on the Asian front. The Hang Seng has recovered from its lows and is now diown 23 points, while the Nikkei is still down 75 points.

Idea has weakened by 2.9% at Rs 67 to emerge as the top loser on the NSE. Sail has shed 1.8% at Rs 203 and DLF has lost 1.4% at Rs 307. And index heavyweight RIL has edged higher by 0.2% at Rs 1023.

 

HCL Tech has risen by 2.9% at Rs 372 to top the gainers list on the NSE. HDFC has gained 1.6% at Rs 2943 and IDFC has added 1.5% at Rs 187.
