After exhibiting rangebound movement for the last two hours, the markets now seem stagnant around yesterday's close. The Sensex is now down 28 points at 18,191, and the Nifty is at 5453 down six points.
However, the smallcap and midcap indices continue to hold marginal gains - up around 0.3-0.5% each. In the smallcap space, the major movers are Raymond up 10%, GMR Infra has zoomed 9% and Karuturi Global has surged 8%. In the midcap space, Tata Investment has zoomed 13% and is the major gainer followed by United Breweries, Cox & Kings and Anant Raj Industries.
On the BSE Sectoral Indices, Auto continues to lead, up 0.9% followed by Consumer Durables (up 0.6%) and Oil & Gas (up 0.4%). while Power, FMCG, Teck, Capital Goods, Health Care and IT are in the red.
The major gainers on the Sensex are Tata Motors extending its gains, now up 6.4% at Rs 1,021. The other prominent gainers are Hindalco, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Power.
While HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Cipla and Wipro continue to lose on the Sensex.
The market breadth remains positive. Of the 2,822 stocks traded, 1,511 have advanced while 1,227 have declined.
