Markets volatile; breadth -ve

The NSE Nifty is up 10 points at 4,103.

ITC has surged 4.3% to Rs 184.

HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Wipro have rallied around 2.5% each at Rs 1,061, Rs 225 and Rs 374, respectively.

Reliance Communications and ICICI Bank have gained 2% each at Rs 444 and Rs 630, respectively.

SBI has moved up 1.8% to Rs 1,323, and ACC has added 1.6% to Rs 548.

HDFC, Tata Steel and Mahindra & Mahindra have advanced 1.4% each to Rs 2,097, Rs 601 and Rs 528, respectively.

Cipla and Tata Motors are up 1.3% each at Rs 218 and Rs 426, respectively.

 

DLF and Satyam have plunged over 2% each to Rs 447 and Rs 375, respectively.

BHEL has shed 2% at Rs 1,500. Hindalco has slipped 1.7% to Rs 140.

TCS has declined 1.3% to Rs 785, and Bharti Airtel is down 1% at Rs 794.

The market breadth is negative - out of 1,990 stocks traded so far, 1,072 have declined and 847 have advanced.
