The Sensex is now down 205 points at 15,299.
The NSE Nifty is down 49 points at 4,571.
Maruti has plunged 4.4% to Rs 684. ICICI Bank and Infosys have shed 3.8% each at Rs 741 and Rs 1,607, respectively.
HDFC has tumbled 3.5% to Rs 2,479. Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite have slipped over 3% each to Rs 191 and Rs 606, respectively.
Tata Power has dropped 2.8% to Rs 1,047, and SBI has shed 2.3% at Rs 1,556.
ITC has gained 1.5% at Rs 196, and Hindustan Unilever has advanced over 1% to Rs 244.
The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,449 stocks traded so far, 1,425 have declined and 936 have advanced.
