Markets weak; Sterlite, HUL up 1%

The Sensex is now down 562 points at 13,787.

The NSE Nifty is down 151 points at 4,181.

HDFC Bank has slumped 9.3% to Rs 1,023. ICICI Bank has tumbled 8% to Rs 610. HDFC and SBI have dropped over 6% each to Rs 2,075 and Rs 1,330, respectively.

Maruti has slipped 7.7% to Rs 564, and Reliance Infrastructure has shed 7% at Rs 917.

Mahindra & Mahindra has slipped over 6% to Rs 497. Tata Motors, Larsen & Toubro and DLF have dropped over 5.5% each to Rs 402, Rs 2,571 and Rs 472, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Hindalco have declined around 5% each to Rs 153 and Rs 139, respectively.

 

Reliance Communications has slipped 4.5% to Rs 489. NTPC and ACC are down over 4% each at Rs 177 and Rs 569, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) and Sterlite have advanced over 1% each to Rs 234 and Rs 589, respectively.

Out of 2,593 stocks traded so far, 1,666 have declined, 855 have advanced and 72 are unchanged.
