Maruti Suzuki rose 1.2% to Rs 2367 on the BSE after recording a hike in total production. The total production for May 2014 stood at 121,746 units as compared to 101,360 units for May 2013, representing a jump of 20%.
The cars produced in the mini segment ( Alto, A Star, Wagon R) for May 2014 stood at 49,853 units as against 43,911 units for May 2013. Further, the cars produced in the compact segment (Ritz, Swift, Estilo, Celerio) stood at 32,352 units in May 2014 as against 22,807 units for the same period previous year.
The production of cars in Super compact and Midsize segment (Dzire, SX4) stood at 21,727 units in May 2014 as compared to 19,981 units for the corresponding month last year.

The production of cars in the Utility Vehicles segment (Gypsy, Ertiga, Vitara) and Vans segment (Eeco,Omni) stood at 5,891 units and 11923 units, respectively against 6,131 units and 8,530 units, respectively.
The stock opened at Rs 2348, touched a high of Rs 2386 and a low of Rs 2336 on the BSE thus far. Over 145,366 shares were traded on both the stock exchanges so far.
