Mentha oil future prices rose by Rs 12.80 or 1.63 per cent to Rs 799 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators created fresh positions followed by rising demand in spot market.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions and fresh exports enquiries fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for far-month August contract rose Rs 12.80, or 1.63 per cent to Rs 799 per kg, with an open interest of 594 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June contract gained Rs 11.40, or 1.50 per cent to Rs 769 per kg, with a business volume of 2,870 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders on pick up in demand at spot markets and limited arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, a major producing centre, led to a rise in mentha prices at futures trade.
