Mentha oil prices climbed up by Rs 73.30 to Rs 2,515 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions on the back of strong domestic and export demand.

Tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from producing region further supported the upsurge in mentha oil futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May surged by Rs 73.30, or 3%, to Rs 2,515 per kg, with a business turnover of 70 lots.

The March contract shot up by Rs 60.90, or 2.47%, to Rs 2,528 per kg, with a business turnover of 993 lots.

Market experts said besides strong domestic and export demand, limited arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to an upsurge in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
