Mentha oil futures prices continued an upward trend by adding Rs 15.70 to Rs 1,354.30 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firming trend at spot market on strong export demand.

Sentiment improved further due to tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from the growing areas of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.

At the MCX, mentha oil for delivery in June gained Rs 15.70, or 1.17%, to Rs 1,354.30 per kg, with a trading volume of 634 lots.

The prices for delivery in May edged up by Rs 15, or 1.11%, to Rs 1,365.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 618 lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets amid restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.
