Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 12.60 to Rs 1,354 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking amid fall in spot demand.
Increased arrivals in the spot market from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, October mentha oil lost Rs 12.60, or 0.92%, to Rs 1,354 per kg, with a business volume of 303 lots.
The December contract eased by Rs 12.30, or 0.89%, to Rs 1,357.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 10 lots.
Mentha oil for delivery in November fell by Rs 11.50, or 0.83%, to Rs 1,359.50 per kg, with a trade volume of 100 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators amid a weakening spot market trend on poor demand.
