Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 15.50 to Rs 1,338.20 per kg today, as traders booked profits amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals in the spot markets from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, November mentha oil drifted by Rs 15.50, or 1.14%, to Rs 1,338.20 per kg, clocking a business volume of 670 lots.

The December contract eased by Rs 14.50, or 1.07%, to Rs 1,339.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 418 lots, while January contract prices fell by Rs 13.70, or 1.10% to Rs 1,335 per kg, with a trade volume of 69 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators and weakening trend at spot market on poor demand.
