Mentha oil prices fell Rs 10.50, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 761.50 per kg, in futures trade today, as traders booked profits amid fall in demand at the spot market.

Increased arrivals at spot markets from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices. On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for September contract drifted by Rs 10.50, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 761.50 per kg, clocked a business volume of 50 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in August contract eased by Rs 8, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 751.60 per kg, with an open interest of 200 lots, while July contract fell by Rs 7.50, or 1.02 per cent, to Rs 724.50 per kg.

Analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit-taking by speculators and weakening trend at spot markets due to poor demand.
