Mentha oil down 0.1% on sluggish demand

Oil for delivery in March weakened by 0.09%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices weakened by 0.15% to Rs 782.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in profit-booking at prevailing levels, driven by sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position in the physical market due to increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in February declined by Rs 1.20, or 0.15%, to Rs 782.50 per kg in a business turnover of 240 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in March weakened by 70 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 793.40 per kg in 180 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators at prevailing higher levels, sluggish demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mainly led to the fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
