Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 21.90 to Rs 2,454 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking driven by subdued physical demand.

Sentiment weakened further due to adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April delivery fell by Rs 21.90, or 0.88%, to Rs 2,454 per kg, with a business volume of 913 lots.

The May delivery lost Rs 16.90, or 0.67%, to Rs 2,492.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 269 lots.

The fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators amid a weak trend at spot markets on subdued demand, traders said.

They said less industrial demand for the commodity also influenced the prices.
