Mentha oil falls on profit-taking

Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 5.30, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 721.10 per kg in futures trade today, as traders booked profits amid fall in demand at spot markets.

Increased arrivals in the spot market from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also weighed on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, mentha oil for August contract declined by Rs 5.30, or 0.72 per cent, to Rs 721.10 per kg and clocked a business volume of 105 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July contract eased by Rs 4.70, or 0.67 per cent, to Rs 692.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 57 lots, while September contract fell by Rs 4.20, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 732 per kg, with a business volume of 12 lots.

 

Market analysts said fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit-taking by speculators, fall in demand in the spot market.
