Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 24 to Rs 1,172.60 per kg in futures trade today after speculators trimmed their positions on increased arrivals from producing belts in the physical market against sluggish demand.

Estimates of higher production this year also kept pressure on mentha oil prices.

At the MCX, mentha oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 24, or 2.01%, to Rs 1,172.60 per kg in business turnover of 133 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in the June contract lost Rs 3.50, or 0.29%, to Rs 1,188 per kg in 591 lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in mentha oil futures to increased arrivals from producing regions against subdued industrial demand.
