Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 38.40 to Rs 921.60 per kg in futures trade today on continued profit booking by speculators on the back of sluggish spot demand.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from the producing regions in the spot market also put pressure on the mentha oil prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June shed Rs 38.40, or four%, to Rs 921.60 per kg, with a business volume of 64 lots.

Mentha oil for delivery in May lost Rs 5.60, or 0.58%, to Rs 957.20 per kg, with a business volume of 51 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 4.20, or 0.38%, to Rs 1,074 per kg, with a business turnover of 267 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit booking by speculators and subdued demand, increased arrivals from the producing regions in the spot market also weighed on the mentha oil futures prices.
