Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 4.80 to Rs 711.90 per kg in futures market today on profit-booking by speculators, driven by a weak demand in the spot market.

Fresh arrivals from producing regions also put pressure on the prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for August month fell by Rs 4.80 or 0.67 per cent to Rs 711.90 with an open interest of 2432 lots.

The oil for delivery in current month July also lost Rs 4.40 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 684 per kg in 4377 lots.

Traders said profit-booking by speculators due to fall in demand in spot market against fresh arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, which is a major producing centre, led to fall in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
