Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 9.30 to Rs 1,185 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators booking-profits, driven by  weak spot market demand.

Increased arrivals from the producing belts of Uttar Pradesh also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for January contract fell by Rs 9.30 or 0.78 per cent to Rs 1,185 per kg in single lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November contract traded lower by Rs 2.50 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 1,154 per kg in just one lot.

Market analysts said profit-taking by speculators due to fall in demand at the spot market led to the decline in mentha prices at futures trade.
