Press Trust of India New Delhi

Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 19 to Rs 969 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking, driven by subdued demand in the spot market.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 19, or 1.98% to Rs 969 per kg, with a business volume of a single lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June declined by Rs 13.30, or 1.45% to Rs 906 per kg, with an open interest of just one lot.

Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators, subdued demand from pharmaceutical units led to the decline in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
